Your Information Here

This notice explains the information involved in reading the atlas and contacting its editors.

Who is responsible

Moxbemangowhistle Media Ltd is responsible for the personal information it handles in connection with this website and editorial correspondence. Our registered office is 24 High Street, Kendal LA9 4TF, United Kingdom; company number 15847206. Privacy enquiries can be sent to [email protected].

Reading the website

Loading a website involves transmitting technical information such as your IP address, requested page, browser details and request time to the hosting infrastructure. Hosting providers may process security and access logs to deliver pages, maintain availability and investigate misuse. These records are distinct from the contents of the local message composer.

The published page code does not include advertising trackers, analytics libraries, embedded social media or remote fonts. Photographs are served as local site assets. Information about cookies and browser storage is provided in our cookie notice.

The local message composer

Text entered in the Contact page is used in your browser to construct a plain-text preview. The composer does not transmit the draft to us, submit it to a server or save it in local storage. Copy Message writes the draft to your clipboard only when you activate the control and the browser permits it. Download Message creates a text file on your device.

Your browser or device may retain form values, clipboard contents or downloaded files according to its own settings. Clear or delete these when appropriate, particularly on a shared device. The composer is not intended for sensitive records, payment information or identity documents.

When you send an email

If you choose to email us, we receive the information you send, which may include your name, email address, message, attachments and email metadata. We use this to consider editorial suggestions, respond to enquiries, handle corrections and manage privacy or legal requests. Please share only information relevant to your enquiry.

Our usual lawful basis for handling ordinary editorial correspondence is our legitimate interest in operating and improving an information website and answering relevant messages. Where necessary, we may process information to meet a legal obligation or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Service providers and disclosure

Hosting and email services may process information on our behalf under their service arrangements. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or reasonably necessary to address security incidents or legal claims. We do not sell personal information or use contact messages to build advertising profiles.

Where a provider processes personal information outside the United Kingdom, applicable transfer safeguards are required where relevant under data protection law. Contact us if you need information about safeguards relevant to your correspondence.

Retention and security

We keep correspondence only for as long as reasonably needed for its purpose, including follow-up, an editorial record of a correction or applicable legal requirements. Routine messages should be removed when no longer needed. Security-log retention depends on operational and security needs. You may ask about the retention applicable to your information.

We take proportionate measures to protect information, but no website, email system or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure. Avoid sending confidential or sensitive material through ordinary email.

Your rights

Subject to applicable law and exceptions, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of personal information, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where consent is the basis for processing, it may be withdrawn without affecting earlier lawful processing. We may need proportionate information to verify a request.

Contact the editors to exercise your rights. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office or another competent supervisory authority. This notice does not limit statutory rights.

External websites and changes

Source links lead to independently operated websites with their own privacy practices. Opening an email link uses your chosen email application. We may revise this notice when the site or its processing changes; the current version will be published on this page.
